Alive?

If you’re not dwelling in God’s truth, are you even ALIVE?

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” -Romans 12:1-2

We can see how “alive” a Christian is in their spiritual worship to God. In this chapter, Paul first emphasizes that we must present ourselves to God as a “living sacrifice” and to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,..”

How can people be transformed? By the renewal of one’s mind through God & His Word. [cf 2 Tim 3:16-17;  Ps 119:105]

For someone who struggles with reading the Bible, consider this; do your feelings have authority over you? If so, why?

Also, how can you obey God’s command to worship Him if you don’t know what He says? How can you discern what is good & according to God’s will without His Word?

I read & listen to people’s arguments against God and some people use morality as a basis to disbelieve. They say that “the God of the Bible is evil & corrupt.”

I say, “Good, you have some sort of morals! Now, where did you get that?”

Ultimately, without God’s Word, people cannot discern what is good, acceptable, and perfect. People will be forced to look to themselves as their own authority for defining absolute standards & that’s where degradation happens; when people become their own gods, their own kings, people become blind to what is good/evil.

The point is to read God’s Word. & know it very very well. For with it, we can 1)live for God. 2)not be like the world. 3)be transformed by the renewal of our mind. 4)put things to test & discern what is His will. 5)know what is good/acceptable/perfect according to the will of God.

And if you struggle with being lazy/apathetic in studying God’s Word, try this: continually kill your apathy & know that your feelings do not have absolute authority over everything.

But God does, whether we like it or not. (:
